Recap from my time at the Tanooki
I worked at a website called the Tanooki for a week writing the news. Sadly, other commitments interfered and I could no longer give the amount of time that would be required of me to continue posting. It was fun and a great learning experience as I did a type of writing unfamiliar to me: straight news.
“New WiiWare game: Pop” - This was my first post for the Tanooki. An inauspicious start, indeed. “THQ to Develop Nintendo IP?” - When you report the news you must face a very sad realization: you will report other people’s wrong information as fact. It happens. THQ isn’t developing a Nintendo game. “Crimson Room and Sequels are DS bound” - I loved these flash games when I originally played them years ago. While the move to DS is welcomed, the overall length of the games is troublesome. Apt-players could solve all the games within 2 hours. Anyway, play the original flash games for free here. “Sega Superstars Tennis announced for Wii/DS” - Full disclosure: I was a huge Sega fan as a child. Many of my favorite games of all time are Sega games. The current state of Sega saddens me greatly. “New WiiWare Final Fantasy info from Famitsu” - Game-lexicon: Famitsu is a very respected Japanese magazine. They are the basis for the American magazine Electronic Gaming Monthly. “Miyamoto wins Innovation award” - If Miyamoto had stopped after designing Super Mario Brothers, he’d still be entitled to all the acclaim he gets. Thankfully, he was kind enough to keep doing awesome things. “Okay, it’s official: Okami set for release on Wii” - Wii gets another port, but at least it is one people actually want. Take that Bee Movie: The Game! “Wii isn’t hardcore enough for Assassin’s Creed?” - My distaste for developer’s opinions begins! “Wii isn’t hardcore enough for Silent Hill either…” - A small editorial about how developers are acting like idiots when saying the Wii can only handle casual games is included. Enjoy that. “Iwata Asks: Super Mario Galaxy: live and in English” - Super Mario Galaxy is going to be a great game; There, I’ve officially gone out on a limb. “I make the songs: Koji Kondo interview” - This one should have been titled “I write the songs…” as to fall in line with the Neil Diamond song. For some reason I forgot to change it. “The Princess is in another Googleplex” - This one is about a recent interoffice design competition held between Google teams. The Devops team decided to do a Super Mario Theme, which was awesome. “Crazy Climber climbs onto Wii” - Originally, this one was titled “Crazy Climber climbs out of grave from whence the scrapped N64 build was left to rot and onto Wii,” but sadly the title was too long. Shame, really. “Objection! Harvey Birdman Delayed.” - Two things: I love the Phoenix Wright games and Harvey Birdman television shows. This game better be great. Yes Capcom, that is a veiled threat. “More Castlevania DS to come” - This was my last post for the Tanooki. I don’t really have a special comment for this one.
To the staff of the Tanooki: thanks for everything guys, seriously.
