Looking for Sailors, seven years and running.
As if video from an E3 long past weren’t enough to send Segata Sanshiro loyalists into a tizzy, history comes back once again to finish the job of crushing your inner Sega kid. Today marks the seven year anniversary of the release of Shenmue, the cult favorite conversation and street fighting simulator. Sega Nerds, unapologetic in their biases, has a nice piece on the series on their website as commemoration.
The Shenmue fan is an especially loyal one as few much loved franchise have toyed around with their fanbases as throughly and completely. Like the phases of the moon, Shenmue rumors creep up and out of the darker recesses of the internet. The best, and the one with most credence: considering that most Wii 3rd party games look magnitudes worse than Shenmue 1 on the Dreamcast, the game would require very little extra work to compete with the best Midway offerings.
I’m pretty sure I just made that rumor up. But it sounds believable, right?
Anyway, check behind the break to view the best Shenmue music video you’ll see all week.
