North American Virtual Console Update (02/11/08)
The two-a-week release schedule continues unabated. However, at least this week, one can subjectively say that we get two great games. Objectively, you can at least say that we’ve gotten some games.
Harvest Moon (SNES; 800 points) - The first in the long running agro-dating sim-rpg series, Harvest Moon is still seen by many to be one of the best, if not the best, in the franchise. The original cartridge is also somewhat rare, apparently. Copies of the game routinely go for $100 dollars or more on eBay, so add this to that list of Virtual Console Bargains. VC-Reviews, like always, has their review up for your perusal. They gave it a 5/5.
Lords of Thunder (TG16-CD; 800 points) - Finally, Lords of Thunder arrives to fill that side-scrolling shooter niche so desperately underrepresented on the Virtual Console. If you’re a fan of the genre, or are looking to get into it, Lords of Thunder is probably a good starting point, especially compared against the sheer glut of choices available. VC-Reviews loves the game and gave it a 5/5.
And there we have it! A very solid week, indeed. Hopefully this marks an upswing for the upcoming releases.
