Umbrella Chronicles ships platinum
Guess who just earned another Resident Evil game? You did! Yes you did, Wii owners! Capcom has announced that their light-gun spin-off of the Resident Evil series, Umbrella Chronicles, has officially shipped over a million copies worldwide, far exceeding their initial expectations for the game. Earning decent reviews from the gaming press, Umbrella Chronicles has proven to be a watershed for Capcom by doing two key things: costing very little to develop and selling a lot of copies.
Umbrella Chronicles and the Wii port of Resident Evil 4 were presented as the litmus tests for the series’ viability on Nintendo’s home console, so with our end firmly held, where does Capcom move next? We were promised more zombies, Capcom, and no, the port of the formerly Gamecube exclusive Resident Evil Zero does not count.
We need new games, Capcom.
… or a Zack & Wiki sequel. You’re given free reign to rehash that series, Capcom. Please.
