WiiWare Launch: FFCC:MLAAK startling revelations
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King has the distinction of being one of the most impressive looking offerings available for WiiWare’s launch. Another distinction the game has is that it’s the most high profile game taking advantage of Nintendo’s pay-to-play, red wifi label initiative for paid downloadable content. This is all the more startling because, up until now, no such features were ever really discussed.
FFCC:MLAAK is a simulation game in the vein of SimCity, but with some light RPG elements thrown in. You take on the role of “The King” and build your tiny city-nation from the ground up, expanding your powers by drafting adventurers to explore nearby dungeons and making sure your citizens are well taken care of with amenities like bakeries. The paid downloadable content will range in price from 100 to 300 points and will offer superfluous add-ons like extra costumes as well substantial add-ons like additional building types and additional character races.
The game itself tops the most expensive of the WiiWare launch titles, costing 1500 points to download. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King is currently set to launch with the North American WiiWare in May.
